AGE Must be between the ages of 17 and 35. As a Light-Wheel Vehicle Mechanic for the Army National Guard you ll ensure that anything that moves on wheels is ready to hit the road. In this role, you will primarily be responsible for supervising and performing maintenance and recovery operations on wheeled vehicles in the field and in the shop. Your duties will include inspecting, servicing, maintaining, repairing, testing, adjusting, and replacing of systems and components; performing recovery operations, and servicing electrical systems; including wiring harness and charging systems. Maintain wheeled vehicles associated trailers and material handling equipment systems Service automotive electrical systems, including wiring harness, and starting and charging systems Helpful Skills Interest in troubleshooting and repairing mechanical problems Interest in automotive engines and how they work Through your training, you will develop the skills and experience to enjoy a civilian career with service stations, auto dealers, farm equipment companies, and state highway agencies. You ll be able to pursue a career as a mechanic who works on carburetors, transmissions, radiators, construction equipment, or endless track vehicles. GENERAL SUMMARY/PRIMARY FUNCTION Responsible for making our #1 critical success factor, safety first, a priority in all tasks and activities performed by self and all others involved. Responsible for the supervision and administration of project safety initiatives, compliance, and training programs designed to maintain a safe and healthy work environment. Develops and implements training programs for employee safety procedures to promote accident protection and prevention. also include developing and distributing educational materials, inspecting company work sites and facilities, and recommending corrections or additional precautions to ensure compliance with established regulations. MAJOR / ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS * Assume professional safety role and promote safe operations. * Assist in controlling hazardous working conditions and unsafe employee activities through interface with project management/supervisory personnel. * Assist in building of Job Hazard Analysis and Site Specific Safety Plans. * Assist in supervision and administration of safety, compliance and training activities. * Participate in developing and conducting staff and craft safety training programs. * Conduct work area inspections, safety audits, observations and document activities. * Document near misses, accidents, safety violations, unsafe conditions/activities with company tools and platforms. * Assist in management of driver training, DOT compliance and records maintenance. * Support Safety Committee meetings and incident reviews as required. * Accompany safety, health and insurance inspectors on walk through tours as required. * Review safety related journals, catalogs, etc. to keep abreast of changes/improvements in techniques, protective safety equipment, and material. * Perform additional duties as assigned Minimum MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE Educational and experience include: Two years construction/safety experience or equivalent combinations of training and related experience. Knowledge and ability to enforce all federal, state, local, and company regulations. Ability to recognize hazardous situations and implement corrective measures is essential. Valid driver’s license required. KEY SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES * Requires strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to prioritize and complete projects on schedule. * Knowledge and skills in the use of various Microsoft Office applications including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint is crucial. * Good communication, organizational and teamwork skills are essential. * Must maintain confidentiality and contribute to a team-oriented work environment.
